I nominate this post as the winner ^

Tying PvE and PvP was a bad move since the beginning. Hope that the same mistake won't happen in GW2 but thats still far away

who cares about favor????

- cap pts fail , period! (in hoh and other maps)
- 3 man relic run is the most retarded, unthought-out change to pvp anet has ever made
- and why sacred temples was take out - nice joke

6v6 was fun but it kinda fails for one reason and that is team "balance" over at anet made too many skills that were overly defensive.

With a team that is a slow spike and a ton of defense u can slowly make ur way to hoh and hold forever.
So i think anet turned away from 6v6 cause people were playing pure defense builds and holding for hours. The first example was the 2 ranger 2 para build that held for hours and was essentially the meta for a few weeks.
I also am gonna stroke my ego and mention our greater conflag holding build that im sure some people remember. We held for hours daily in the week before the change from 6v6 to 8v8.
Because 4 characters can take a target from full hp to dead in a spike - defensive spike builds basically became about 99% of the teams in halls.

6v6 might make things a bit more intresting in the current system. (I detest 3 man relics and cap pts).

I could say i want old school holding- but thats honstly unfair as a handful of teams would simly dominate halls. But ganking is something that anet needs to seriously consider. it sucks, period.
Id like to see something like annihaltion - somthing like the old old 5 man hoh - which basically means u have to bring an offensive build or you cant win. Just something that results in teams that arent uber defensive and something where ganking is simply not possible as is prevelant in all three of the current hoh win conditions.
Something like 2vs2vs2 or 2v2 then the winners 1v1. I dont have examples as im not really willing to spend time considering balanced ideas about how hoh should be run , and no1 of importance from anet will even read this post ...so w/e

Keep in mind; this would be backtracking. They now allowed open districts so americans can go to asian/european districts and visa versa. If they did this; districts would have to be closed off again.

Its fine the way it is now.

But talking about the "good old times" makes people look more e-cool, I guess.
And yes, I was playing in 2005.
TY for this post.
only thing I'd like to add is: some things are better left dead.

/signed, it was much better and cooler in the old good times. The way it's now is just wrong. Those areas were supposed to be 'special', not freely available at any given time. And they felt that way in the old system, it felt like something really big, a worldchanging event going on and neverending.
And despite many people saying otherwise, the whole fight for favor actually WAS bringing hordes of pve players to the Tombs, fighting for common goal was bringing people together.

Ofcourse old system was far from perfect, there were reasons for many to complain. The worst thing imho was the fact there were small separate worlds (Korea, Japan, Taiwan, more?) which had minimal chances to gain the favor at all (less than 1% favor time for them). A solution would be dividing all the playerbase into 2 or 3 worlds with even numbers of players, it could be just Europe vs Rest-of-the-world.

It's funny how people b*tch and moaned for 2 (almost 3) freaking years to change this and when it finally happens....

People want the old way back.

What gives?

Back when favor was limited you could convince someone to go to FoW or UW based on the limited time.

"Hey, man, we just got favor, lets go do some FoW."

"Okay I'll meet you in dis 1."

------

"HURRY UP ONLY 2 MINUTES LEFT TO FAVOR ENTER QUICKLY!!!"

Now, with limitless favor it's more like.

"Yo, lets go do some FoW/UW."

"Nah bro maybe later."

Also, Europe didn't have favor all the time. Maybe it seemed like that to players that were on for a limited amount of time at a certain time of the day, but it wasn't the case, man.

some people will always complain, the question is how many and why...
Anet instead of solving the hot issues are pretty much going around them and creating more messes than fixes, and that's the problem.
the old system wasnt perfect but its better than the new system, I'm not saying change it back entirely but rather go somewhere in the middle. also each system affects and is affected by the current meta, keep that in mind as boon prots are no longer here and you got all those new shiny NF and GWEN skills...

The new system sucks, but the old system sucked a hell of a lot worse.

At least for now, you can go to UW/FoW whenever you like, so WHY THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU COMPLAINING? If you really want to have to wait to get in, you can just give me all your gold once per day; then you'll have to wait until you've farmed 1k to get in. Happy now?

The big problem with the current system is that sooner or later it will run out, and we'll never get favor again. Boy, I can't wait till you start complaining about that...

The problem started when the bulk of teams started forming in ID ( in other words - a long freakin time ago ) The majority of Players forming teams in ID showed Anet that HA'ers did not care about favor. Which is true, we didnt. The new system is much better since it's length is decided by people who actually care about farming.

Actually, I think they may try more than ever to blend PvE and PvP. Now since they know more about what works and doesn't.

Unless of course an article somewhere stated that they weren't. :|

They wouldn't dare to do otherwise. Even if we ignore the fact that people expect GW2 to be a "more of GW1" rather than a "completely new game," tying PvE and PvP up in one neat bundle lets GW tap into two largely separate player bases, which results in increased customer base and revenue. It's a brilliant decision, in terms of both marketing and game design, and stepping away from it would only be detrimental to the financial success of the Guild Wars franchise.

Many people will be expecting improvements to how the PvE + PvP system is implemented in GW2 as compared to GW1, but the union of the two is here to stay.
